Reading Week

Ahhhhh reading week. What a lovely time to relax and have a break from the grueling term. Oh wait, I have 2 essays and a midterm when I return on the Monday.

Now for those of you who perhaps are not aware of what reading week is, it is allegedly the most common time for college and university students to commit suicide. I know here it was called suicide for many years by students until the staff really encouraged it to be called reading week. So now if this tidbit of information is deemed as accurate, do you not think that they could at least give us until the Friday before slamming assignments down? To be honest, it works more so for me than having everything due on the Friday before, but then again I really have no life so it is not an inconvenience for me.

So what am I doing this week? Well I am going to be working on my eportfolio for computing, working on an essay about how adolescents are portrayed in film, doing an essay in english on the canterbury tales by Chaucer, and studying for my midterm in adolescent psychology which is not actually until the Wednesday (Hey I am allowed to embellish a wee bit aren't I).

Stalker Extraordinaire

Okay, so is it weird that I just spent the last hour reading the past blogs of a woman i hardly know? How about gawking at pictures of family i should know but could trip over without even knowing them? The internet makes stalking so easy that even the laziest of people can now comfortably and without moving, stalk people. That is scary because i always said that i was just too damn lazy to become a stalker and now apparently i can't even use that as an excuse anymore. It just sounds bad to say im too lazy to cyber stalk people.

You know this social networking almost makes me feel more lonely at times because it reminds me how far away i am from some of the people i hold so close to my heart (yes Barb you if you are reading this). Sadly, i probably know more of what her day entails now that she is several countries away than when she lived several streets away. That is nuts.

So to those i am now stalking regularly, thanks for the laughs (oh Shannon thanks for the laughs) and the glimpses at my genetic pool. (If i see you on the street i will try not to trip over you).

The Tale of Two Midterms

Yes, you heard me correctly; two of them! One was English and one was Psych Stats. Now, you must understand, psychology stats has been a pain in my ass all year long and it is quite uncomfortable. I studied a lot for this test though because although it looks as though i may have to retake the exam, I don't want to let my GPA slip. So i went in there well armed and attacked that test like an overweight kid imprisoned in a fat camp and suddenly given a box of smarties. I finished the test and looked around to realize that i was the first to have completed it! So cross your fingers and such for me that i had a clue what i was doing.
English is one of my favourite subject. Today it was as though the professor ate crack rocks for breakfast. There were 5 short answer so two or three sentences each, 2 short essay questions, and one long essay question. All of this in a 50 minute class? Seems a bit extreme and i can honestly say that only one person left early. I don't think that anyone (other than that keener that finished early) actually finished all of the components. To add insult to injury, he called it a quiz. I don't actually want to show up for his real tests.
Oh, on a lighter note, i got my adolescence test back, i aced it with 88.3%. Add that to the 100% i got on my essay and i am looking golden.
Ahhhhh the joys of school.
